I think I am safe to say as human beings we want to see positive change in the world. However, we cannot linger at the idea of just wanting to see change. We have to understand that to See change we have to Do change.
Although having the fore sight that the world needs positive change is the first step of enlightenment, it is only the first step. We have to take action by doing something to make change happen.
I suspect what causes us to sometimes live in a state of paralysis about change is the fact that doing something about it can be a very daunting task. One important thing we have to constantly remind ourselves is that there is POWER in the number ONE! Yes, there is power in you being you. Let me remind you why the big banks changed their minds about the debit card fee … one person stood up and said ‘NO’. Her action caused others to act and collectively we forced the banks to do a ‘flip flop’ on their decision to charge a user fee on debit cards.
You see change has to start with us – you and me. It has to start where we are – you and me. It has to start in our own sphere of community: family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and people we meet along our way. People at the grocery store, cleaners, shopping mall, movies, ect.
You see, change comes about from millions of acts. There is wisdom in the saying, “The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.” Plant your seed, the gifts that God has given you, where you are and together, when we all do this, our collective efforts will not be in vain. We can make a huge difference in our world. Remember… The power of one!!
Be the Miracle Everyday! When you see yourself as a Miracle, you will see your neighbor as a Miracle.
Share with us what you are going to do with your God given gifts, right where you are, to make a difference in this world. I would love to hear from each of you. Let’s get the conversation going so we can inspire one another to not only see the need for change, but commit to doing something about change everyday in our individual spheres of community. This is the only way we are going to make a worldly difference.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Ghandi
